Basic Chemicals Division

In the Industrial Chemicals category, sales declined from the previous fiscal year. Demand for liquid chlorine and sodium metal was strong, but sales of caustic potash, potassium carbonate and phosphorus oxychloride decreased.
Sales in the Eco-Business category also sagged from a year earlier. Demand for the water treatment agents NISSO HI-CHLON and TCCA-90 weakened.



Specialty & Performance Chemicals Division

Sales in the Specialty Chemicals Products category increased from the preceding fiscal year. Stagnant sales of ITO coated glass were offset by robust sales of NISSO-PB, semiconductor photo-resist material VP-POLYMER and slime remover.
In the Dye Stuff Chemicals category, sales posted a year-on-year fall, with demand for high oil-proof color developer for thermal paper growing, while sales of fluorescent whitening dyes dropped.
The business of treatment system by dechlorination for PCBs remained strong.
Sales of feed additive Methionine gained, as sales volume declined but sales value improved.
In the Pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical intermediates category, sales sagged from a year earlier. Sales of base antibiotic FAROPENEM-Sodium grew, while sales of pharmaceutical additive NISSO-HPC and pharmaceutical intermediates AOSA and MAP declined.
Sales in the custom manufacturing business marked a year-on-year drop, despite an increase in sales of phosgene derivatives, as sales of some these products were terminated.



Agro Products Division

Domestic sales of agrochemicals decreased from the previous fiscal year. Although the new fungicide PANCHO-TF was launched and sales of fungicide TOPSIN-M increased, sales of insecticide MOSPILAN decreased.
Exports also sagged due to declined sales of herbicide NABU and acaricide NISSORUN, although sales of fungicide TRIFMINE gained.


Notes:   Effective from the year ended March 31, 2004, Speciality & Performance Chemical section and Pharmaceuticals section, in Chemical division, had unified and reorganized into Speciality & Performance Chemicals section.



Transportation, Warehousing, Construction, Non-Ferrous Metals and others

Sales in the Transportation and Warehousing category rose thanks to an increased freight number of industrial chemicals.
In the Plant Construction and Civil Engineering businesses, sales climbed from the preceding fiscal year helped by a recovery in IT-related capital spending.
The environmental development business continued to be strong.
